Date: 15th May 2008

An invitational charity cycling event organised by Hydro International in support of Wateraid.

20080515_ride_up_britain_150The format of the ride is to complete the 907 mile set route from Lands End to John O'Groats without stopping by riding as a team in a relay.

The team can consist of 4-6 riders with one or more riding at a time. The team will have a support vehicle accompanying them that will carry the riders who are not on the road and their bikes as well as spares and supplies. The support vehicle will follow immediately behind the rider(s) from dusk until dawn but can be elsewhere on the route during daylight hours.

Starting at Lands End the route will climb up through the South West of England, along the Welsh border, the North West coast of England and Scotland before crossing the Highlands to John O'Groats. Using low traffic roads and taking in some picturesque scenery should make the ride a memorable experience.

There are no discreet stages or distances to be covered each day, it is a continuous ride. Teams frequently report to the organisers so that their progress can be monitored and any problems reported. It promises to be a unique and exciting challenge for each team!

The aim is to raise £10K in Hydro International's first years' partnership for WaterAid and hopefully the Ride Up Britain will make a huge contribution towards this target.

Start time: 12:00pm
