The Danbury Bike Festival
Date: 19th - 20th July 2008
The Danbury Bike Festival will incorporate two exciting days of events and races.
Saturday sees the first ever Little Havens Mountain Bike Challenge where riders can cycle off road through the undulating parkland and tracks in aid of the Little Havens Hospice. There will be Bronze, Silver and Gold Challenges available where riders will complete 3, 6 or 9 laps of a 3 Kilometre loop. Riders will have the option of opting in or out of some of the more technical aspects of the course. Start times ara available throughout the day from 10am to 2pm. There will also be a mini lap for younger riders on a flatter area of the park so they can be included in the Challenge.
Sunday sees the inaugural Mud, Sweat and Gears Mountain Bike Enduro. There will be a 20 minute race for youngsters under 12 providing a challenge over a short lap that keeps the kids within full view of their parents. Start time for this race is 1pm. Riders aged 12 to 16 can take part in the 1 hour race that takes place over a full lap of the course. Older riders aged 17+ have the option of either a 1 or 2-hour race where the aim is to complete as many laps as possible within the time available. Both the 1 hour and 2 hour races start at 2pm. The 1 hour and 2 hour races use the same specially designed circuit that features hard-packed paths, grass fields and single track with some off camber aspects. There are also a couple of stiff climbs and some nice fast descents that will challenge legs, lungs and nerves!
Camping is available on Saturday night in the park at a cost of £3.00 per person.
