Sunday Cycle Picnic
Date: 07/09/2008
Dress up, pack yourself a picnic hamper and head to London fields to celebrate cycling at the Sunday Cycle Picnic on 7 September, organised by Hackney Council in partnership with Cyclechic.co.uk, Bobbin Bicycles and Sawako Furuno.
Celebrate the fun of cycling with garden games made from recycled bicycle parts. Vintage cycling films will be screened in the one of the world's first pedal powered cinemas, the Magnificent Revolution, to add to the fun.
Cyclechic.co.uk, Bobbin Bicycles and Sawako Furuno will also be running a light hearted a competition for the best dressed cyclist and bicycle.
The event aims to encourage more women to get on their bicycles and experience the fun and freedom of cycling around London without feeling like they need to wear sportswear or change their everyday style or habits.
The partners in the event are all young women who want to make cycling more accessible and fun for women.
The event also aims to be a zero waste event with people encouraged to bring their own picnic and think of the environment.
