Elan Valley Challenge Ride 2
Event Date: 30th November 2008
Clive Powell MTB has been running a successful series of winter off-road challenge rides for some years now, which are well established on the MTB calendar.
They are one day MTB endurance events but differ slightly in format from more circuit-race-style enduros, majoring instead on self sufficiency and route finding. Each participant is issued with a route map and punch card. En route there are a number of punch stations, and if a rider collects all punch points within the allotted time, their card is entered into a spot prize draw. The route is 40km, which may not sound far, but it is very hilly and very varied, and will ensure a really good workout over interesting terrain. It is a fun way to build up a base of fitness in the early months of the year without too much pressure.
The entry fee is just 8GBP and the prizes in the draw will be dependant on the number of entrants. Pre entry is recommended, but entries will also be taken on the day(10GBP). Route cards and punch cards are issued from 9.00am on the day, and you have until 3.00pm to complete the route. Entries close at 10.30am on the day.
The starting point and registration are at The Clive Powell Mountain Bike Centre in West Street, Rhayader. There is limited car parking at the Centre but a town car park is close by. Riders under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Entry Cost:
Pre entry 8.00GBP
On the day entry 10.00GBP
