Trail Break brought their 15 years of mountain bike event organisation experience to road biking last year with the debut of their highly successful Southern Sportive. This year they have added the Sunday Sportive series to their calendar and say the events are designed to compliment the cyclosportive season across the board.

"Cyclosportives have the potential to become the broadest appeal cycle events in the country." says Trail Break's Martin Harrison. "We would love to see them become the cycling equivalent of marathon running; an inspirational challenge that anyone feels they can aspire to and achieve. For that to happen, the format needs to have the broadest appeal, so we started thinking about events that had something for the sportive veteran and the casual cyclist alike."

The result is the Sunday Sportives. The courses are pitched a step down in severity from most full cyclosportive events, but with all the event support and atmosphere. "For the sportive vet, they're not designed as a main season target, rather as a great way to maintain and build form and motivation for your big season challenges, without burning yourself out.

"They're ideal for cyclosportive newcomers too. As well as the full 140k ride, there's a choice of shorter 90k and 50k routes that make them a perfect stepping stone into the sport, and give you the infrastructure right there to move up a level as you improve. We know from experience in our MTB Trail rides that events that appeal to a wide range of abilities do a good job of turning casual riders into keen, regular cyclists."

The Sunday Sportives begin in Princes Risborough on April 22nd, with events from Milton Keynes, Woodcote in Oxfordshire, Gatwick and a headline event in Leathley, North Yorkshire.
