How to Build a Cycle Friendly City

Source: Everyday Cycling
News Posted: 29 Oct 2007

Here are two great guides on how to build a cycle friendly, livable city. In the light of the recent news that the London Olympic village will be a 100% car free experience, we take a look at two other cities, one in the US and one in mainland Europe, who seem to have things under control.

The first is a half hour video celebrating the US's most cycle friendly city, Portland, Oregon.

The second a detailed and wonderfully illustrated planning guide commissioned by the Centre for Public Space Research in Copenhagen.

These guides provide a wonderful insight into the effect that a cycle friendly environment can have, as well as offering many practical solutions and inspiration to transport planners everywhere.
