Dirty Weekend - Scottish Adventure Sports Festival

The UK's first ever multi-sport adventure sports festival hits the Scottish Borders Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 July 2008
Dirty Weekend is the UK's first ever multi-sport adventure sports festival set in the stunning surroundings of the Tweed Valley in the Scottish Borders and featuring some classic multi-sport event formats. It will be staged from Saturday 5 to Sunday 6 July 2008.
Choose adventure racing, mountain biking or trail running from the selection of well established and brand new events, all based from a bustling adventure village in the grounds of a Scottish baronial stately home - Traquair House.
Events
- ACE Race - Adventure Race (5/6 July) - over 1 and 2 days - combine running, biking and kayaking whilst navigating for checkpoints in challenging terrain
- Polaris Challenge - Mountain Bike Navigation (5/6 July) - an off-road biking challenge held over two days where competitors have to reach as many checkpoints as possible within the allotted times.
- Dirty Dozen - 12K Trail Run (5 July) - Taking to the woods and forests of the Tweed Valley and providing a superb run on off-road trails; passing through woodland, crossing rivers, traversing rough ground and tackling some major ascents (and descents) along the way.
Events place great emphasis on inclusion, organising events that are not purely the domain of the seasoned athlete. The Dirty Weekend will see experienced adventure racers, mountain bike orienteers and proficient fell runners participate alongside amateur sporting enthusiasts keen to challenge their fitness levels whilst having a lot of fun along the way.
