A traffic-busting new cycle route has opened to get commuters from south Leamington into town.
Ever increasing petrol prices, parking charges and congestion could become a thing of the past for cyclists who head out on the new Tachbrook Road route.
Extending from Queensway to High Street, the cycleway links with other cycle routes to create a convenient and continuous cycle route along Tachbrook Road. It was built as part of Warwickshire County Council ongoing work to develop Warwick and Leamington's cycle network.
Cllr Martin Heatley, the county council's Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: "It's great to see the completion of a 'missing link' in the cycle network in south Leamington. We hope the Tachbrook Road cycleway and other future improvements for cyclists in the town will help more people to get around in a healthy and sustainable way."
To find out how the new cycleway can help you make your journeys around town, pick up a free copy of Warwickshire County Council's Warwick and Leamington cycle map.
The map is available at Council offices, libraries, bike shops and other local outlets or you can request one by visiting Warwickshire County Council's cycling web pages at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/cycling.
Anyone nervous about getting back in the saddle could benefit from one of Warwickshire County Council's cycle training courses. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the cycle training courses, which are a key part of the county council's continuing commitment to cycling.
Almost 30,000 people having received training to date.
Available for both adults and children, training will help you improve your cycling confidence and develop the necessary skills to get around town by bike. Details are available on the web at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/cycletraining.
