Trail Break announces new North Downs event

Southern Trail Rides
Above: singletrack delight in the North Downs

Biking holidays abroad and road trips to trail park destinations can almost make you forget that this country is littered with great riding if you only know where to look. Trail Break's Southern Trail Ride series has been showcasing the best of our open trail network for 10 years now, and they're starting the next 10 with a brand new set of routes on the North Downs from Reigate.

A good day on the North Downs is always an enticing prospect, and Trail Break have been working hard with Redhill CC (www.redhillcc.co.uk) to put together a corker. All the characteristics of the North Downs are bundled into this impressive ride. The fast flowing bridleways and single track, coupled with the roller coaster sections of Stane Street, followed by the classic Box Hill climb are just for starters. The swooping trails with short cheeky climbs will keep those gears changing and hearts pounding. Don't be fooled by the calm segment across the golf course as the roller coaster starts again, before the wicked descent down Reigate Hill.

The format of the day will be to the original tried and tested Trail Break formula, with three distances to choose from, comprehensive route marking to keep you on course, detailed route maps as a back up and even Memory Map and GPS files for belt and braces navigation. There will be free SIS energy drink to power you round, and hot food and drink on sale at the finish for your post ride relax and chat.

And your ride objective is whatever you care to make it. You can aim for one of the Gold, Silver or Bronze pace targets available or forget about the clock, kick back and enjoy the trails at whatever pace feels good on the day. The overall effect is of the pure buzz of biking on tap; everything is laid on for you to just turn up and ride.
