Panasonic Launches Regenerative Braking Bike

Electric bikes have been growing in popularity and sophistication for a while, fuelled by growing pressures for more sustainable and practical forms of urban transport. The electric bike is seen by many as a way of tempting the reluctant cyclist out of his or her car and back onto two wheels.
The problem with many electric bikes in the limited range of their batteries, which has improved in recent years with great leaps forward in battery technoligy and the proliferation of lithium ion battery technology in mobile phones, laptops and other devices.
Now Panasonic of taken things a step further by introducing the Vivi RX10-S, an electric bike that actually generates electricity during braking. Without regenerative braking the bike already has an impressive range of 56 miles, however with the new technology this range is extended to a huge 76 miles in average conditions.
The Vivi has 4 levels of pedal assitance, so the rider can tailor the amount of effort they have to put in to suit their capabilities, energy levels and circumstances.
