Climb by Bike - The ultimate cycling climbs website?
Posted: 29 Sept 2008
One of our readers has just sent in this marvellous site which catalogues the world's major cycling climbs. www.climbbybike.com is an online database dedicated to lovers of cycling passes and climbs, allowing you to search for the ultimate challenge. If you're a die hard pass-buster, you can explore the longest, the toughest and most challenging, with climb profiles, google maps and google earth options. You can even submit your thoughts and experiences if you've had the dubious honour of surviving one of these monsters.
All the UK greats are there, Bealach na Ba, Bwlch y Groes, Wrynose, Hardknott, Rosedale, plus loads more lesser known gems. If you want to suffer further afield you can search from a long list of far flung destinations. If you're in Italy, try the legbreaker of Scanuppia - Malga Palazzo, 7.5km long at an average gradient of 17.6%. You can also submit pictures of your pass-busting antics. Be warned, you can easily lose a whole afternoon on this site, so don't open it during work time!
