The first ever Rapha Condor Sportive will be taking place on Saturday the 1st August in Blackpool. This will be the first of two post Tour de France events that day, bringing cycling fans together to race and ride before enjoying the Blackpool Nocturne in the evening.
Participants will be able to meet and ride with the UK's number one-ranked cycling team, Rapha Condor, and also have their pictures taken with the pro riders. There will be plenty happening at the start with trade stands from Rapha, creators of the finest performance cycling clothing and accessories in the world, and Condor bike manufacturers. Food and drink will also be available for riders and at the end prizes provided by Rapha Condor will be awarded to the winners.
We spoke to Rapha Condor pro cycling team manager Jon Herety, who said:
"The event really is a full day out with the Nocturne in the evening. Plus all 12 members of the Rapha Condor team will be in attendance. Eight of the team will see the riders off and ride part of the route as a warmup for the evening's exciting town centre racing, while the other four will ride the full route and test themselves against the best sportive riders in the country."
There are two routes which will be fully signed and marshalled, with feed stations provided by SIS nutrition. The short, flatter route of 58 miles and the longer, hillier route of 85 miles will both start at the Solaris Centre on New South Promenade, Blackpool, and head south toward Lytham St. Annes and Clifton then turn toward North Preston, before heading onto Longridge and eventually back into Blackpool. The routes will run along the coast and take in some lovely quiet country roads and beautiful Lancashire countryside that follow the National Cycle Networks. Chip timing devices are supplied for each rider by Sport Systems.
Blackpool Council is supporting both the sportive during the day and the Blackpool Nocturne in the evening. Riders and spectators can benefit from discounted hotel rates in Blackpool and can make a full weekend of the event by riding the Sportive and then watching the spectacular racing events at the Nocturne.

The sign on and off is at the Solaris Centre, Harrowside, New South Promenade, Blackpool, FY4 1RW. Sign on will be open from 8.30am. The first riders will depart at 9.30am.
