The latest from the guys at One Planet Adventure, who run the Coed Llandegla trail centre  near Wrexham

20061221_llandegla_mtb_centre_200x200DEMO DAY: Saturday, 9th May, Oneplanet Adventure will be holding another one of their now legendary Demo Days.

This is your chance to come and try all the latest trickery from brands such as Orange, Commencal, Yeti, Santa Cruz, Kona, Cove, and maybe another couple of sneaky brands too...

The long, dark Winter is now behind us and Summer is just around the corner, allegedly, and what better time to treat yourself to a new bike - Go on, you deserve it!

The demo day will offer you the chance to test, back to back, some of the best trail bikes the UK has to offer. The Orange 5 has recently won MBR's prestigious trail bike of the year award and the Commencal 5.5 was runner up.

For more information on the specific bikes available, please just give Jay a call in the bike shop on 01978 751656.

Demos will be done on a first come first served basis, and you will be asked to provide a photo ID - Drivers license or Passport as a deposit when you register.

So fingers crossed for good weather, and we hope to see you here on the 9th May for Oneplanet Adventures Spring Demo Day.

RED GRADE CHALLENGE: Saturday 9th May is also a very big day for Oneplanet Adventure Directors, Jim and Ian, as they embark on a 1 week mountain bike challenge in aid of Alzheimer's Society.

They will be attempting to ride as many 'Red Graded' trails as possible throughout the UK in a week. They are aiming to ride 29 different trails, which will take them from Dalby in Yorkshire, to the North of Scotland, down to South Wales and will finish at Coed Llandegla on Saturday 16th May. To see which trails we intend to ride click HERE.

They will cover more than 1000km's between them and more than 2500km's driving, and are doing it to raise as much money as possible for the Alzheimer's Society. If you would like to support this great cause please click HERE and give as much or as little as you can.

Whilst away you will be able to track their every movement by clicking HERE and checking out the LIVE GPS feed on our website. At the same time we will be updating the 'Roadtrip Blog' on the site as well with as many photo's, news and video as we can possibly manage.

If anyone is interested in joining Ian and Jim on any of the trails, you are more than welcome. Just email Jim with the trail you would like to ride and he will give you a rough idea of what time they will be there at. Obviously the plan as it stands has to be slightly flexible, but provide your email address and mobile number and the guys will do their best to keep you informed of progress.

MEMORY WALK / RIDE: Upon Jim and Ian's return to Llandegla on Saturday 16th May, we will also be holding a sponsored mountain bike ride and walk, again in aid of Alzheimer's Society.

You are all invited to come and partake in this fun day, there will be various different stalls on the day, a raffle with some great prizes, and most importantly a BBQ. The BBQ is free to all those who raise more than £5.00 sponsorship.

By coming and taking part in the event you will be helping us to complete a target of 3700km's representing the 37000 sufferers of dementia in Wales today.

If you don't fancy mountain biking you can just come for a walk in the forest, everyone can register their km's to us and hopefully by the end of the day we will have reached our target.

So what better way to spend a Saturday - Fresh air, countryside, mountain biking, walking, prizes, food and raising money and awareness for this often overlooked charity. We really hope to see you all there. Of course we have booked the best weather Mother Nature has on offer, but in the unlikely event that she let's us down, we have it covered - literally. The whole of the decking area will be encased in one massive marquee, kindly supplied by Outback Marquees, so even if it does rain a little, it will NOT dampen our spirits.
