10 Things to do on Everyday Cycling

To get you started on Everyday Cycling, here's a quick rundown on what the site can do and how you can create your own little corner of the Everyday Cycling world.

The first thing you need to do is create your Everyday Cycling Profile. This will allow you to tell the world who you are and what kind of cycling you do. This will also be the place where your activity log, challenges and archived news will be stored. As soon as you register with Everyday Cycling, you'll have an 'empty' profile created for you.

To create your profile:

  • Log in to Everyday Cycling
  • Click on 'Edit Profile' and get started!

Creating a group is a great way to link up with like minded people, club members, friends or family. Create a local commuter group, a club group, or a group in homage of your favourite cycling tea stop! The only limit is your imagination.

To create a group:

  • Log in to Everyday Cycling
  • Click on My Groups
  • Click on Create a Group
  • Get creative!

Your profile has its own built in blogging area where you can wax lyrical about your favourite cycling topics, blog your daily commute, sportive experiences or enduro tales. You name it! You can make your blogs private or public and choose to allow others to comment. It's up to you.

To create a blog:

  • Log in to Everyday Cycling
  • Click on My Blogging
  • Click on Create Blog and start typing!

You can upload pics of your bike (or bikes!!) and tell the world all about your pride and joy. You can also discuss yours and your friends' bikes.

To Add a Bike:

  • Log in to Everyday Cycling
  • Click on Bikes
  • Click Add Bike and get started!

5.Find Friends and Send Messages

Everyday Cycling lets you find other cycling friends who are also members of the site. Once someone is your friend you can send personal messages, invite them to your groups and more!

To Find Friends

  • Log in to Everyday Cycling
  • Click on Me & My Friends
  • If you're looking for someone you already know, you can search by surname. Or if you're looking for people will similar interests, you can search by tag (e.g. 'commuter', 'sportive', 'fixie', 'mountain biker')

You can log all of your daily riding on the Activity Log. Log your commuting, training, leisure riding and more. You can choose to log miles or if you're a commuter, you can log 'trips' as well, and see how many car journeys you've avoided!

To Log Activity:

  • Log into Everyday Cycling
  • Click your Activities and Challenges Tab
  • Click Add Activity
  • Add your latest ride in the boxes provided

7.Create Challenges

Everyday Cycling lets you create personal or group challenges, where you can challenge yourself or your group members to ride a given distance in a set time.

To set a personal challenge:

  • Log in to Everyday Cycling
  • Click on your Activities and Challenges Tab
  • Click Create Challenge
  • Choose your target distance, or number of trips, start/finish dates and go!
  • To set a group challenge, follow the same route but from within your group

As well as setting challenges you can adopt challenges set by Everyday Cycling.

To adopt a challenge:

  • Log in to Everyday Cycling
  • Click on your Activities and Challenges Tab
  • Click Adopt a Challenge
  • Take a look at the challenges available and take your pick

All of those miles that you've been logging certainly add up. And if you're an Everyday Cycling Member you can see how your mileage or trips stack up against other Everyday Cycling Members. You can check how you're doing weekly, monthly, yearly or specify a date range.

To see the Rankings:

  • You must be an Everyday Cycling (or British Cycling Gold/Silver) Member
  • Log in to Everyday Cycling
  • Click on the Rankings tab
  • Select your parameters and go!

community_archive_grab_25010.Archive News, Events and Routes

Now you can archive articles and features on Everyday Cycling, which are stored in your News and Events tab.

To archive:

  • Log in to Everyday Cycling
  • Once logged in and looking at a news article, just click the 'add to my' link at the foot of the article.
