Following on from last year's success the famous Grizedale Mountain Bike Challenge is back in 2008! The guys from GMBC have been extremely busy putting a new event together, so with pre-ordered sunhsine and a great course it is a recipe for success!

Sun 07/09/2008 - Sunday Cycle Picnic in Hackney
Dress up, pack yourself a picnic hamper and head to London fields to celebrate cycling at the Sunday Cycle Picnic on 7 September, organised by Hackney Council in partnership with Cyclechic.co.uk, Bobbin Bicycles and Sawako Furuno. Celebrate the fun of cycling with garden games made from recycled bicycle parts. Vintage cycling films will be screened in the one of the world's first pedal powered cinemas, the Magnificent Revolution, to add to the fun.

Sun 14/09/2008 - Ride the Route
This year guys from Wheels in Wheels CC have added to the tests the Pro's will have to endure with their own route the Tour wouldn't go up. The "Challenge" will add several new climbs and one "Killer Option" that we only suggest you try if you have good walking shoes. Start and finish will be at Worcester Racecourse with an easy run out of the City and a cycle route finish avoiding all the traffic.

Sat 20/09/2008 - Cheddar Sportive
The cycling event, now in its second year was created by David Moore (Broadway House) and Paul Baker (Cheddar Cycle Store). The event has been elongated this year to allow riders to complete up to 270k of visually spectacular, heart pumping, hill climbing, speedy descending mendip road cycling action.

Sat 25/10/2008 - Braveheart Fundraising Ride
The Braveheart Fund was launched in 2003 by former British champion, Motorola professional and Giro d'Italia survivor Brian Smith. Its aim is to raise the funds to allow young Scottish cyclists, be they roadies, trackies or mountain bikers, to fulfil their potential. Following on from the success of previous years, this years event looks like another joyful experience for all who attend, giving you the chance to ride with past and present stars.

Sun 31/08/2008 - Tingwall Sportive
Following the successful Sportive in South Yell, another is planned for 31 August in Tingwall in aid of CLAN to help raise funds for a new cancer support centre in Aberdeen. It is hoped once again, to attract a field of adults and teenagers of all abilities to come along and enjoy the challenge of cycling a set distance on public roads, without the pressure of taking part in a competitive race.

Sat 04/10/2008 - Polaris Challenge
The Polaris Challenge makes a great weekend away in the outdoors to have a blast on the bikes over some great off-road terrain. The event began in Autumn 1991 as the very first two-day Mountain Biking Orienteering event in the World. It is still the biggest event of its kind and regularly attracts riders from all over the world.

Burgess Hill Rumble Sportive
Sun 31/08/2008 - Set in the scenic countryside of West Sussex, with good transport links, Burgess Hill is a cycle friendly town which has easy access to the North Downs, South Downs and Ashdown Forest. The Burgess Hill Rumble is a new Cyclosportive which starts and finishes in the town centre. Three options are available to allow riders of all abilities to explore the Weald and achieve their personal goals.

Sun 31/08/2008 - Rocko Roller
The Rockingham Wheelers have put together all the best parts of their club rides to form what is a superb roller coaster of a route. The full Big Dipper at 160km and 2320m climbing, and the shorter Mousetrap at 78km and 1222m climbing. Short sharp climbs, several around 20% flow with some superb descents on quiet lanes, you are sure to enjoy the testing descents as much as the climbs.
